Both of my sons take classes here twice a week and in their words "it's awesome!!" Master Lindamood is more than patient with my 6 year old who is very easily distracted! He and my 14 year old are both having a great time learning their taekwondo movements while getting exercise and learning how to be respectful! It's a win win for everyone!

Martial Arts may help lower your blood pressure

You know now that taking martial arts classes can strengthen your heart, but you might be wondering what effect it will have on your blood pressure. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is something that affects many of us.

I have good news for you. There’s plenty of evidence to support the idea that getting regular cardiovascular workouts lowers your blood pressure. That’s because working out strengthens your heart.

Your heart is a pump. Its job is to circulate your blood. When your heart is weak, as it is if you don’t get enough exercise, it has to work really hard to do its job. But, when you strengthen your heart with exercise, it works more efficiently – pumping more blood with less effort.

That efficiency reduces the strain on your heart and lowers your blood pressure. Sometimes, people who rely on medication to keep their blood pressure in control find that they can stop taking it after they begin classes with us.

Of course, I can’t promise that the same will happen for you – individual results can vary. But what I can tell you is that martial arts classes will strengthen your heart and improve your circulation. That’s good news no matter how you slice it!

Having high blood pressure is a risk factor for many serious health problems including heart attacks and strokes. If you combine regular martial arts workouts with a healthy diet, you’ll improve your blood pressure and protect your heart. Those are both great things!
