Martial Arts Can Help Build a Healthy Heart
In one of my last posts, I told you that taking martial arts classes at Lindamood’s Martial Arts can help you lose weight. Now I want to talk about a different health benefit, and it’s one that everybody should be thinking about.
As you’ve probably guessed, I’m talking about your heart. Specifically, I want to talk about cardiovascular fitness, why it’s important, and how martial arts classes can make your heart healthy and strong.
You might know that heart disease is the leading killer of both men and women. There are lots of reasons for that. Some of it has to do with our diets, which tend to be high in things like sugar and saturated fat. But some of it has to do with our lack of exercise.
The heart is a muscle, and like any muscle, it needs to work to stay strong. Your heart beats when you’re sitting still or sleeping, but it needs more than that. You need to get it pumping hard on a regular basis, and that’s what our classes are designed to do.
A martial arts workout is a serious workout for your heart. That’s because punching, kicking, and striking at an opponent all require force and energy.
What that means is that if you work out with us regularly, your heart will get stronger. Your whole circulatory system will – and that’s important because it will protect you from heart disease now and in the future. That means you’ll be around for a long time, and we want you to be!
Until next time,
PS – Keep an eye out for my next message. In it, I’ll tell you about a related health benefit – something that’s especially helpful if you’re under pressure. (That’s a hint!)
